Kala Kumbh – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (Bhubaneshwar)

As part of grand celebrations of the Amrit Mahotsav, the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence will have a series of scroll paintings with artworks of artists from various geographical locations of the country.

The major theme of these artworks will be on the unsung heroes of struggle for India’s freedom. Inspiration will also be drawn from the illustrations in the Constitution of India which have been meticulously done by Nandalal Bose – one of the leading masters of modern Indian art from the Bengal School alongwith a team of other eminent artists and calligraphers.

Ten scrolls of seventy five meters (it will be 14-15 ft high) each will be commissioned which will represent and showcase the rich Indian cultural heritage along with our unsung heroes. The scrolls would reflect inherent artistic visuals pertaining to the grand celebrations of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and would also reflect our National pride.

The scrolls are proposed to reflect traditional forms of art as well as contemporary expressions, which would showcase the essence of rich cultural and artistic heritage of India while also analyzing the glorious history of our nation and its people and the supreme sacrifice and contribution of our unsung heroes.

The Director General, NGMA along with the Advisory Board of NGMA (consisting of eminent artists including professors of eminent universities) will act as mentors for the scroll painting workshops.

The videos of the event will be uploaded on the publicity portals of NGMA, KIIT and SILICON University
