Inter-School band Competition

1. The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education in collaboration with Ministry of Defence has proposed to conduct an Inter- School Band Competition at All India level. A School band evokes a feeling of oneness, belongingness and a deep sense of pride in school children. The rhythm of a band instills passion, action, courage and motivation in young and old alike .

2. The first level of the proposed Inter-School Band Competition is to be conducted by all the States, UTs, CBSE, ICSE, KVs, NVS among their schools. This will be followed by a National Level Inter-School Band Competition (Semi-Final) (online/video) .The finalist teams will perform live at National War Memorial (NWM) from 23rd January, 2023 to 30*h January, 2023 as part of the National Level Inter-School Band Competition (Final).

3. The Nodal agency to oversee the competition is Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi with assistance from EdCIL.

4. Levels öf Inter-School Band Competition: Level 1: States; UTs; CBSE; ICSE; KVs; NVS Level 2: National Level Semi-final Level 3: National Level Final Separate competitions will be held for Boys and Girls Band Groups. Band Group means one Boys Band and one Girls Band. Maximum one Band Group, Boys and Girls separately, from every School can participate in the following categories of Bands; however, schools may enter only one girls' or only one boys' band as per availability:- + Pipe Band Group (’Cymbal’ should not be included) and + Brass Band Group All the entries of recorded performances so received will be judged at National Level Inter-School Band Competition (Semi-Finals) I by a Jury appointed by the Ministry of Education, with experts from Defence Services , at Ministry level, out of which two Best Bands in each category will be selected , separately for Boys and Girls Bands (Total 08 Bands) . These 8 selected Bands will be invited as finalists to New Delhi to perform live at the National War Memorial, New Delhi where they will compete as part of the National Level Inter School Band Competition (Finals). The Jury at the National level band competition (Finals), will be appointed by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, with experts from Defence Services. The Winners and Runners up Bands will be honored with Cash Prizes and Certificates and witness the Republic Day Parade on 26 January 2023, at Kartavya Path, New Delhi.
